Painting Guide in Spain

With any decorating project, good planning makes all the difference between success or failure.

So before you start, check the points below to make sure you've got all the bases covered.

1. Which paint?

Re-painting the outside of your home can give it a whole new look as well as protecting it from the elements. To give long lasting durability and help walls stay cleaner for longer, Sandtex Ultra Smooth has its unique Microseal formulation in its premier masonry products.

2. How much paint?

Sandtex masonry paint covers between 8 and 12m 2 per litre.

3. What else do you need?

There's nothing worse than having to stop at a crucial point for yet another trip to the shops or shopping mall, so make sure you've got everything before you start.

4. Work safely?

It may seem obvious, but it pays to observe a few safety rules when you're working.

5. When to paint?

Give your project the best chance you can by picking the right time for the job.

- Allocate yourself enough time and try to work in fine weather conditions.

- The best time to paint is when the walls are as dry as possible. Pick a day that's dry and warm, when there's not too much wind or fierce sun.

- Try to avoid painting late in the afternoon when there's a risk of morning frost or dew the next day as this may well prevent the paint from drying properly.

- Try to follow the sun; so that it has dried out the area that you will be painting and surfaces are warm and free from dew and damp. That old phrase rings true "make hay while the sun shines"

- Never paint wood that's wet

- Do not paint if the temperature is likely to fall below 5 degress C.
